Your dream of owning a holiday cottage in Devon may be easier that you think with our shared ownership. Each cottage is divided into 10 shares. Each share consists of 5 weeks per year which can vary from year to year across high, mid and low season. As an owner you can use all/none of your chosen 5 weeks and you can chose to let friends/family use the weeks or alternatively rent them out and let us look after the booking for you.

We pride ourselves on providing an out-of-bounds country haven, just a stones throw from the beautiful beaches of Hope Cove. Bring your dog, your children, your friends or come on your own. Our cottages vary in size - choose a studio, one, two or three bedroom cottage or apartment that suits your needs.
Yes. Our site is pet friendly and with 35 acres there is plenty of room for exercise.
Yes it is possible to work remotely at Hope Barton. Either in your cottage or in the shared work space above the bar. Broadband speeds are sufficient for Video Conferencing.
Yes. This is based on the cost of maintaining the facilities and providing future expenditure minus the income we raise. Each service charge varies depending on the size of the cottage - many owners offset the cost of the service charge by renting out some of their weeks.
The week allocation system we have, ensures that all owners have a fair turn in choosing their weeks. Our system of rotating priorities each year guarantees complete fairness to each owner by enabling them to plan and vary their chosen weeks from year to year.
You have the following choices:
Each cottage is sold with an annual allocation of five weeks (the chosen weeks change year to year) of a 999 year lease. You are free to sell your share however you like and we will support its sale by advertising it on this website or promoting its availability to prospective purchasers. Some owners share their share with other friends or family members.
As an owner of a share in a cottage you automatically become a shareholder in “Hope Barton Owners Association Ltd” which is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the site. The latest accounts can be provided for prospective purchasers.
